i took mine around 150 hours, but i spent about 41 hours prepping specifically for the instrument. not saying there arent things to work on in the flying portion, because there are, but seemed i spent a lot more time in the books then anything....the flying is all spelled out for you, so for me personally, it was more about knowing what to do when.
