This is the truth.
Bidding ORD will all but ensure the EMB, but there's still a tiny chance you'd get the CRJ. I can guarantee if you pick BOS or LGA and then drop a base bid to ORD you'll get ORD right out of school, with maybe a month's delay for the flow plan (organization of transfers).
I did something similar- I bid ORD for a jet (hopefully the EMB) and was willing to accept the CRJ in exchange for a short commute from DFW until I could get a transfer.
I wound getting the EMB and dropped a transfer bid in ground school. A month after I was done with IOE.. I was DFW based.
If anybody's hesitating to 'wait and see', I'd just go ahead and apply now unless you really have a better alternative. With the market fluctuating the way it is right now, it's better to have a job and not like it than not have a job.
