Good idea, however, I used to do that and while taking my bags downstairs to the pilot lounge, unbeknownst to me, snagged the lanyard, and ALL of my certificates, medical and ID got left behind on the staircase.
I had no idea until someone came into the lounge and started calling my name!
I like to keep particular pieces in certain places so if I lose one, I still have some of the others.
