Citi-data is a pretty good website.

I would use it as a starting point to find an area that you might be interested in, along with the areas that our fellow JCers mentioned, and then go there for a few days to check it out for yourself.
Also, Google Earth is good to use to find out what kind of stores, resturants, and things to do are nearby.
