Standard 141 mins for commercial are 190 hours. I think ASA has picked up CAPT program guys with as low as 200 hrs. Yes you can get an interview with some regionals as low as legal mins. some of these airlines want to get first pick on guys coming down the pipe, and they may hire a guy contigent on a jet bridge.
So maybe he was telling the truth.
