Pilots are generally not compensated adequately for the job they do and all the responsibility that goes with it. That said you can make $ in flying, but it will not make you rich and you will never be 'the man'.

I do that for probably another hour after lunch, too. I'd say in a given week I probably only do about fifteen minutes of real, actual, work.
