Probably a roll of the dice. If you can afford it sooner I would just get it done. Like the bdhill mentioned you may not need it so quickly, but then again you might also miss opportunities. (You can better predict what you might expect in your training community than I do.) I got my multi-com shortly after my commercial and finished my MEI only a few months after my CFI. It worked out well because where I worked there were several twins and not many MEI's. So I ended up doing a ton of checkouts and multi ratings. I got my multi time very quickly.
