They won't be the 121 FO posting excitedly about their first experience near t-storms, moderate turbulence, icing, and an approach to mins all the while 50+ paying passengers are in the back with no idea that this is the first time the guy in the right seat has seen conditions like that.
For the experience alone, even if you go to a regional after, freight is worth it in my opinion. | Agreed. However in BuickCFI's case in this day and age why give up senority to end up at the same regional 2 years from now? He is not a jet transition guy, he has more to offer to a 121 cockpit because he has the TT. The doors he wants opened can't be opened with just freight so why waste the time stopping there? Is it good experience yes. Why did I do it for so long? Money and waiting for the right regional. Who cares whether he sees heinous wx in the right set or by himself? In the end he will have to ride shotgun to get to his goals any way. I'm speaking for his situation only. Don't get me wrong I love it if I have an FO with freight experience.
