Turns out that Apache wants to take a steaming coil of poo and shut down the MySQL server which is causing the issues that started after the memory upgrade.

Second level's working on it and it should be resolved soon.

I still have to dig through the usual haven't-been-online-for-13-hours torrent of email so I'm not sure what the status is.
