This is an old thread but, in my homesick state, I'd recommend a place called "Piece" in Wicker Park about a block away from the Milwaukee/Damen Blue Line stop. Its a pizza place that does thin "New Haven" style pizza and home-made microbrews. Its not a chain, not too hipster, its cheap, and its won awards for both the beer and the pizza.
While more convienent to ORD folks - its still worth the trip. Kewl neighborhood, too.
