I agree that you would probably be noticed while sitting in on an MBA class. Indeed, they do tend to be smaller and emphasize group participation. If you just want to see what it's all about, the instructor would probably allow you to sit in for a session if you asked.

I personally wouldn't be interested in an online MBA for exactly the reasons already mentioned. An MBA is supposed to prepare you for managing people and processes. Reading from textbooks and writing papers will not provide for full development of this skill set. And you can't put a price on the value of networking in a classroom filled with experienced professionals from a variety of industries and backgrounds.
