I've jumpseated back into the States from Canada a few times. It is a pain. All the gate agents tell you know, but if you can find the crew they can get you and then suddenly the agent has amnesia about the inability for a jumpseater to get across the border. Find the crew and I'll bet you can go. That doesn't do much for planning a trip though, sorry.
