Aviation Instructors Handbook
Most of the other handbooks are available somewhere on the faa site. I just happened to have this one bookmarked.

As long as you can dedicate yourself to studying regularly, you should have no problem.
I'd also recommend to get your proficiency back in the aircraft. If you can afford it now, fly about once a week just to get the thrill of it brewing again. At the same time, start studying for the written tests and making lesson plans. It'll help once you start going for the certificate.
You shouldn't need it, but have fun!
