On the laptop...
When I was domestic, I'd keep it in a padded
"Mac Case" and slide that inside of my suitcase and lock it. Laptop bags just mean "steal me!"
Now I have a Swiss laptop case, which I keep magazines, an iPod, my Skype phone and my cellphones in, with my laptop, then clip it on the bars of my suitcase with a carbine clip. But I'm only in an airport every once in a while and no plane swaps so the extra bag isn't a problem. Plus it's handy as hell during the commute.
No I don't wear it as a backpack ever because it's strictly verboten by our uniform code. But it certainly comes in handy when it comes to bringing back massive amounts of EuroSwag after a trip!
