I've heard Mesa's training is a little unstructured and there are breaks. I have an interview upcoming with ASA and their base and training is in Atlanta. I'm sure most on this forum would say ASA 50-1 over Mesa but I agree with the "everyone has an opinion" quote. I have talked with happy Mesa pilots and unhappy ASA pilots (and vise/versa).
There are breaks and there are breaks... Ground/CSI's/Oral was basically 5 straight weeks. (don't expect weekends off - they gave us Wed. and Sun. off each week) I'm on a 2 month break before FTD's and the SIM. Once online I expect I will never have a day off. Didn't have any problem going home - I drove to PHX a few times from Los Angeles and non-rev'd a couple of times. PHX in January is really, really nice... a great break from the cold. It all depends - my experience might be much different than yours as training is catching up.
