The Garmin 1000 combines the HSI with an RMI on the PFD into one instrument. Most folks doing the IR do not know how to use an RMI. I saw a guy bomb out of an airline interview, and one thing that hurt him was he didn't have a clue how to use an RMI.
Flying arcs and intercepting inbound courses on Instrument approaches with the dual instrument on the PFD is great. Not to mention SA the MFD gives you.
