I had a student more or less in the same situation. He was all set to go with his CSEL, then the Mooney broke. Then the Bonanza broke. So he called us. I had him ready to go on the CSEL in two days, and the ME checkride was three days later.

Now, this was in 2004, so it looks like things are a bit different. I could pretty much call up one of the DPEs and have a checkride that same week. Looks like they've gottan a bit busier since then.....
