no. you may log 'dual given' for both actual and simulated conditions if you're giving instruction. and yes, he may log approaches flown in both actual and simulated as well. an instrument student may only log pic time in simulated conditions, as it's the only time in which they're properly rated..
or sole occupant of the aircraft, which they cannot legally be in real imc. and certainly get your cfii. it's a very valuable rating to add to your cfi ticket. best wishes.
