Don't attempt any pizazz. White is never wrong and is the most conservative color. Next in line is light blue. Unless you have very good taste, deviate from these at your own peril.
You rarely see George W or any of his ilk in anything other than white. When you do, it's light blue.
You're allowed some creativity in your choice of ties.
