I hate broccoli. My parents used to make me eat it. I'd put a piece in my mouth, take a big swig of milk or water and swallow the broccoli whole.

Our 4 year old takes after his daddy and loves broccoli. The 2 year old takes after me and won't touch anything even resembling a vegetable.
