i don't do part 141, but i'm a career instructor now and have my own ideas and ways for teaching to tailor to the needs of the individual. part 141 does have it's place however. the faa recognized the phenomenon of 'time-building' instructors and sought a way to help standardize training methods to improve overall quality across the country. it works, particularly for an instructor who doesn't take as much of his own time to plan lessons and is essentially building time. this is not to say that 141 instructors are bad..quality varies from teacher to teacher, but part 141 has worked to improve and standardize what the faa wants to see.
