It was a good learning experience too. They're in the middle of Ramadan and I got a great opportunity to talk with a lot of people about customs and such. Do NOT typecast Muslims because the perception we get in the US from the cable news networks isn't necessarily what reality is.

I was just talking to Kristie via Skype about one of the shopkeepers talking about how he has to abstain from drinking water, eating, even physical contact with the opposite sex before sundown but, "I tell you friend, once sundown comes, there's this girl from Kazakstan that I'm meeting up with tonight for good times and lots of Efes!"

Efes is a popular brand of beer here in Turkey.
