The thing is despite the scenic beauty of the state, people often forget that unless you have genetic immunity you can contract herpes (simplex 1 & 2) just by breathing Maine air north or east of Portland. If you have to be in Maine stay as close as possible to the New Hampshire border, and well south of a line west (270 degrees true) of Portland.
