Re: Trip to Seattle in 2007 Well, that was a boatload of fun.
Mike, thanks for putting it all together. I had a great time. It was good to see everyone again/meet the new people.
Quick recap for those who couldn't make it. I'm going to forget a whole bunch of people's names.
A tour of the SEA Alaska Airlines operation starting at the front ticket counter moving back through baggage, ramp, ramp ops, line MX, the engine shop, the sheet metal shop ($6000 metal flanges! Yeah!) and then over to the operations center to walk through MX Control and Dispatch a few of the corporate offices and then the sim bay.
Thanks to Dave, Station Manager Guy, Ticket Counter Manager Guy, PR Lady, Baggage Area Manager Guy, Station Ops Supervisor Guy, Gate Assigner Lady, MX Guy and MX PR Lady, Machine Shop Guy, MX Controller Guy, and Dispatch Supervisor Guy. As I said, I am going to forget the names.
From there we walked back to our cars and headed over to Boeing to go through the Alteon tour. We were really short time so Rex at Alteon did a very abbreviated walk through of their facility. They have one of the nicest sim bays I have ever seen. A few people got to fly the 737-700 for a go around the pattern before we had to bail and head over to the 787 and 748 mock ups.
Kent (I think) and Steve gave a great presentation at the CEC where we saw the 787 (I really can't wait to fly on one of those) and 747-8 mockups. We then when through the sales room in the back where Boeing reps work with their customer airlines to figure out their needs. RFID rocks. Oh yeah, there were some kicking Stereo 3D glasses installed.
Over all it was a great time.
And now I am off to catch a red eye back to the right coast. |
