Our ASAP committee just posting something about this. The CLT controllers have been doing it on landing a bunch and have been told that it is not cool to do and should stop doing it. We'll see if it works.
Side note... As heard on CLT tower two days ago.
AAA123: "Good afternoon to the greatest tower controller ever, US123 for 18R"
TOWER: "How did you guess I was working?"
