I guess I will be the unpopular one. Take not tower guys/gals, us pilots do not want you looking out for us, blindly do things and pay no regard to the fact we MAY not be configured for landing (gear down) and let us belly land the airplane since questioning someone or being proactive on a situation may bruise someones ego.


Geeeesh, come on people, there was a miscomm somewhere and the tower didn't realize what was going on and did what she though was in the best interest of safety at the moment, after realizing there was no issue and no need to further delay Lloyd she cleared him to land. If the cancelled clearance and subsequent reclearance to land was such a threat to safety Lloyd should have gone around himself.
