Here's how it is at Pinnacle (your airline may vary). You're pretty much stuck in MEM unless you get a long break in training, which normally won't happen until you're done with ground school and waiting on sim time. For a few guys, they got that break AND breaks during the sim when they could go home. Good news is, Pinnacle non-revvs you home and back. You'll get another break after you pass the checkride and starting IOE. You've got your ID by then, so you can use your jumseat benefits.

Unfortuantely, here, you're more or less chained to the hotel.
