About boats: Catalina Express has 5 different types of ships. Shouldn't the captains be paid the same? They all take about an hour to cross from port to port but some carry 150 pax while the catamarans carry 450 pax. They're doing the same job no matter which ship they take. All it takes is a little extra training to learn the differences and that's about it.
Just playing the part of devil's advocate here.

Thats exactly what I am saying. They should be paid the same, it's the same class of job with the same "class" of equipment, operating in the same enviroment. If you kill 8, 50, 150, or 200 people and live to tell about it. Do you think the layers and the judge are going to say, eh it was only eight people you ran off the end of the runway and killed. It wasn't like you killed a 150.
If a guy hauling boxes taxis in front of a 737 on the runway at high speed, are they going to say. It's cool he was hauling boxes he didn't know better.
That is why I am saying pilots should all be paid better on a more level playing field. If you drop top level pay at all the good 121/135/91 jobs and the raised the bottom level pay the same amount. In the long run you would actually make more over the same period of time. It's lame that a guy making 80 grand at ExpressJet gets a job as a CO FO and gets his pay cut by 50 grand and looses his benifits. I knwo people will say that's the way it's always been. But it doesn't have to be. But I will agree it probably won't change in my life time.
