Re: What to say (asked to briefly speak for a business school class)?
I had a conversation with a girl that was starting as a freshman at Emory as a pre-law major. The conversation went something like this...
Her: "Pilots are paid too much"
Me: "WTF are you talking about? You're working at the front desk at an FBO!"
Her: "My Mom is a ticket agent for X mainline, and I know the president. He says they get paid too much."
Me: "So you're pre-law, right?"
Her: "Yup"
Me: "Would you ever graduate from law school and accept a position that pays $11,000 a year just because you law practicing law?"
Her: "Of course not, nobody in their right mind would do that."
Me: "What do you think I get paid?"
Her: "Well I'm paying $40 an hour for you guys"
Me: "I make $11,000 a year, I have an undergraduate degree in a pre-law major ALREADY and I invested another $40,000 into my training."
Her: "...oh..."
She didn't have a clue, she thought I was pocketing the whole $40 an hour that my employer was collecting on behalf of me.
