Recently hired FO and finished my checkride a couple weeks ago. They did not issue our SIC types then (someone was out of the office) so they told us we would get them before IOE. Well my first IOE trip starts in a few days and they told me I can start to fly the trip without it and they will get it to me during my trip - that I only need it to go in or out of the country.

Anyone know if this information is correct? I have been looking for links or something from the FAA to read about this, but I can't find anything, and seeing its the weekend, I can't really call anyone about it. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!
