If you have some other things about you that make you a more rounded person than the "average" college student, you will look better to Admissions. I was on Admissions Cmte. for med school at Cornell, that is what we looked for when all the applications started to look the same. The GPA is important and can be the first weed-out factor, but some borderline candidates will get a slot because of their other qualities. Your letter is the place to highlight this. Good luck!
