ExpressJet I woke up at 3:30 for a 6am flight to IAH from BWI. They put me on mainline Continental. The interview time was at 9am, but I didn't walk off the plane until about 8:45 due to enroute delays. I found my way down to the bag claim per the e-mailed instructions but couldn't find the signs showing me to the proper exit. I eventually found it after asking a couple people. You're supposed to go out the exit for the Limos and then find the sign out on the the first island marked "Scheduled Transportation" or something like that. Out the exit and all the way to the left. Note that it is not the same exit as the other shuttles, busses and taxis.
I rode the shuttle with a couple other guys in suits. There are other stops on the route, clarify with the driver which one is Continental Express. We got in a few minutes past 9 and sat in the main room with the other applicants. There were about 20 people in the room I think. We got the presentation on the company and then a Q & A with Mr. Semak. People were being called out of the room to go to the two tech interviews and then to go to the H.R. interview.
The gouges out there are accurate. They want to hire you, just be yourself. I fouled up a couple technical parts of the interview and they still hired me. Give honest answers. They hired a lot of people. It's hard to guess how many because we were divided up in different places at the same time. Although I think the sessions were actually longer in length, it felt to me like I was only in each interview room for 5 minutes max. The day went by quick. At one point in the afternoon I looked at a clock and realized I had been up for 12 hours, but it felt like it had only been 6.
There were a wide variety of applicants, including lower time CFIs like me with no bridge program, RJ training or anything like that. I feel that a strong basis for my selection was a great internal letter of recommendation that I had. I brought four, two from current ExpressJet FO's, one from the owner of my flight school and one from the DPE I've sent applicants to.
Post offer I filled out a lot of paperwork followed by fingerprinting. A group of us then went back to the terminal for the pee test and then to catch our flights home.
