Re: Tour of the facilities
Keep those posts coming. I still have Falcon as my first choice, but they are the most expensive of my top three list so they'll have to be super impressive when I visit in May. The other two are SkyMates and Aviator in that order (I took FSA off the list simply due to the cost of the program).
I know SkyMates and Aviator have a bunch of multi-time in the program alone, but their aircraft are not Diamonds. I'm looking forward to flying the Diamonds, but the place I'll be most successful for under $50K for all ratings with books and tests will win me over since that is the maximum loan I'll take out under any circumstance (I have a source to pay all my living expenses for two years so not worried about that). The other factor besides loan amount will be knowing I'll end up with at least 200 multi-time within a reasonable time. In my opinion that means I would really need to feel positive that I would get at least 40 hours a month multi time as an instructor there at Falcon since I am assuming I will end up as a CFI there if all goes well.
Here are my concerns about Falcon though. Maybe you can give me your opinion on the concerns based on your visit...
Does it look realistic to build a substanital amount of multi-time at Falcon when most all their aircraft are singles?
How many career students that require multi ratings are there, or is it mostly a local PPL and Instrument crowd for students?
Once you get the CFI, do you feel the company paid CFII and MEI will come quickly or will they make you sit around waiting for it? Seems like you are at their mercy on when they let you do the CFII and MEI, but maybe it's been a non-issue?
As a MEI, does it look possible to end up with at least 40 hours a month multi instruction?
Did it seem pretty easy to get housing in Peachtree City for a reasonable price? Remember, I need a garage on the property for my motorcycle so that might put me in a slightly higher rental range.
Do you consider the program to be more self study like ATP, or more structured class time like FSA?
Guess that does it for now. Hope you feel comfortable answering these. Oh, and anyone who works at Falcon or currently attends can address these too. Just looking for very honest opinions here and I'll trust your word is golden. Thanks.
