Default Re: Let go...

basically during the interview I asked the boss what he was looking for in an employee, to which he responded that he was seeking, "employees with a strong Christian ethic. But I guess I really can't say that now can I?" I told him he wouldn't have a problem with me - neither confirming I was or was not Christian.

On the first day of work he asked where I was going to Church (after having been in town a whole 2 days). I just told him I was raised to discuss neither religon or politics at work because it can make some people uncomfortable.

Third day of work he gave me a whole bunch of pamphlets (which I have) from his Church. I told him I'd look them over and thank you.

What I agreed to for employment was: $1500 base salary, $20 per flight hour and $125/day per diem. A week ago he said that the company is no longer going to pay per diem. I told him that's not what I agreed to and left it at that.

While I'm thinking of it,

Techflyer - yes, it is illegal
Kristie - the n/d is because the surveying is for potential drilling sites for oil rigs (BIG $$$)

Other than my stating that taking away the per diem was not what I agreed to and letting that go I can think of no reason to can me. No other employer has had problems with me and I have never been let go involuntarily.

Like I said though, I do have a little leverage by not signing the non disclosure, and by Texas law they have 6 calandar days to cut me my check. Guess they should have tried to can me after the weekend. But the guy is trying to not pay me and is pretty flustered that I didn't sign his agreement. He threatened me with taking away a $750 severance package if I didn't sign. Unfortunately for him that still left him owing me about $1500. He got pretty flustered when I didn't sign.

By the way did I mention this took place in his car? What an ass. He told me that he was trying not to get upset. Upset? I think after having cancelled a vacation, moved 1800 miles and being owed $4200 I should be the one upset.

When pressed for supplying a reason, he stated that he doesn't need to give me one. True, but usually when employers have a valid reason they will let you know

Wonder if I should quote the good book of "Give to Ceasear that which is Ceasars" or if that'd just piss him off
