Default Scenic Airlines

Got called for an interview date two weeks prior to the date. I prepared well ahead of time in case I got a date soon after applying. I studied up a bit more now knowing I had a time frame. The email tells you everything you need to bring, what the interview consists of and about the outside source for the simulator. They make it very clear what you need. I scheduled the simulator prep for the day prior. I arrived in Las Vegas the day before, got checked in to the hotel and had a few hours to burn before my sim prep. Walked by a wheel of fortune machine, stopped, sat down, inserted money, bet max, three 7's, 30 bucks, cash out, thank you. Now I headed to Scenic. Met Bob, very nice and helpful guy. Gives you everything you need to have some confidence with the simulator. Learned it's quirks and what not to do. They are in the process of moving to Boulder City, it's happening.

8:30am the interview starts the next day. I arrive at 8. We start with the ATP written exam. 35 questions, need an 80%. I took my time and used most of the allotted time given to me. I'm glad I did.

Next came a presentation about the company from John Starkovich. I enjoyed it a lot and it made me want to work for Scenic even more than I already did. Everything is laid out for you in black and white. Good stuff.

Paperwork next. While filling it out, I got taken to the simulator. They are looking to see how you correct things and if you are trainable. I got a clearance, took off and did what I was told. Got a hold. Executed it. Direct to BLD, hold as published. Explained the entry, did not have to do it. Got vectors for the VOR 25 approach into LAS. Was asked some questions while on the approach. Don't get distracted. Forgot do a few things but admitted them and told the corrective action. Landed (crashed) and that was it.

Finished the paperwork and got to do the last part of the interview process, the 3 on 1 oral (cue scary music...anyone?). Why Scenic? Explained IFR procedures using the Long Beach ILS and one from Nebraska (go Huskers). Translated a TAF. Got a couple deer in headlight moments but they were helpful in getting in the answer out of me. I felt like they really wanted to hire me and were not trying to find a reason not to. At the end, I got told "you are definitely going to be in the pool". Sweet! I was excited and thanked them all.

Not sure on when I will start. I now just wait for the call. Can't wait though. Everyone was super nice and it really looks like a great place to work. Thanks to everyone who was involved!
