I just bought 2 pairs of skis for a total of $620.

A used pair of Salomon Scream Hots for $210
And a pair of lightly demoed Fischer RX8s for $410

There was a bigish ski sale up here about a week ago.

A new pair of good stuff will run close to a grand, plus boots. A set of decent used stuff should run about $600

Skiing is expensive but there are deals out there.
