Well it is 'Tradition' that when you get your soft wings, everyone else who has wings is allowed to give you a hearty punch on the wings. You got to be careful with traditions like that because of the paratroopers incident some years ago. As for the hard wings with no backings on them, those were not punched into the chest. I was in dress whites and that might get messy.
