I was thinking this is possible for sure. I have had a number of people ask me to upgrade. When I tell them I only have 1900TT they sorta swallow hard and then say "oh".

The thing with upgrading that you have to realize is that first of all it is not for everyone. Maybe eventually everyone has the ability but being a Captain is a huge responsibility and it should be viewed as one. Because this is case, even a person with huge aptitude and drive both may not be ready to upgrade and may consider waiting to gain more experience. Personally, I don't feel ready for it right now. Going through this RJ FO class is reminding me all that I need to know both from a systems standpoint and from a FAR standpoint.

It is easy to consider chosing an airline based on upgrade times, but for your first job you should choose an airline with a good training department and a good maintenance shop. Both those things will get you where you need to be in better shape than any short cuts. I guess the moral of the story is, once again, in aviation, there are no short-cuts, only those who cut themselves short.
