I would take winter flying over summer flying any day. None of that crappy haze, no annoying thunderstorms, thermals, or turbulence, and even the doggiest airplane climbs like a rock star. And, there's less air traffic flying around. And, there's less contention for rental airplanes. However, make sure the airplanes are hangared, because spending 45 minutes at the start of a lesson to scrape frost off the wings sucks.
