A flight instructor and student pilot aboard a single engine plane set it safely down near the Morton Salt plant on the south shore of the Great Salt Lake, less than a mile away from Interstate 80.

The two were in the midst of a flying lesson when the throttle control linkage broke, leaving them unable to keep the engine running at a higher speed.

The pair looked at a number of potential landing sites and ultimately decided on a wide open patch of hard-packed desert.

They were able to land the plane safely, and both walked away from the site without a scratch.

The incident is under investigation"

The student took it quite well

Congrats on getting it down safe.

BTW, nice job by the media there .
