But....but....it's so CHEAP living in my parents' house.
Checkride is scheduled for May 8th or 9th assuming I don't get any other sims cancelled.
Sim one was pretty much what I expected. Normal checklists and flows, takeoffs, climbs, stalls, descents, multiple ILS approaches to landings, after landing check, switch pilots, do it all again in the other seat, then do the shutdown flow, exit and terminating checklists. All in all a good learning experience that filled in a lot of CRM gaps.
Sim 2 was a different story. We once again did the safety check, flight deck inspection, before start flows and checks, cleared to start flow, after start flow and checks, pushback, taxi flow and checks, etc etc. Threw in some abnormal starts (hot start, hung start, no light off, no starter cutout) then did a normal t/o and climb. Get up to 10K and do the stall profiles. Reposition to FL410 and see how squirrely it is, especially with turbulence. Down to FL350 for unusual attitudes and some yaw damper stuff, and then the fun begin....
I broke the sim. Yeah, you read that right. The instructor wanted to demo what the yaw damper did. So, he told me to stomp on the rudder. I did. CRJ went into an inverted spin, instructor almost came out of his chair, and books hit the floor. Took 20 min to reset, then we picked up. After all that, we did a mach tuck demo (never saw tuck, but I did see mach 0.998). Hand flew the ILS 27 into MEM, go around, then repositioned for the NDB 35 in Pensacola. Landed and switched seats. Did the whole thing again and tacked on the after landing flow and check, shutdown flow and check, and terminating check.
Sim 3 on Friday night covering unpressurized takeoffs and landings as well as cold weather ops.
