You can knock King all you like, but recognise that Martha King is a hottie at least.
Seriously, I have the King DVDs and they are quite thorough even if their humour is diabolical as everyone else has stated. They do a bloody good job of explaining things in a very easy to understand way.
This said, I am trading them in for the Cessna Pilot Center "Cleared for Takeoff" CDs. It's easier for me to study these since my instructor and I are having difficulty contrasting my knowledge gained from the King DVDs with what's required in the Part 141 training syllabus. I had bought the King videos before starting training to get a head start and I am somewhat glad I did, even though I now have to sell them on eBay. Alledgedly, and I say this because I only got the CDs tonight, the videos allow you to follow a lesson structure, where after (and before) each lesson you can cover what was covered in that, or the last lesson prior exactly, with cockpit video showing maneuveurs and so on. It would have been great if in the videos they demonstrated things like slow flight, or descending turns to help reinforce the cockpit experience....perhaps there is a reason they don't..
Ironically the CPC CDs feature John and Martha King....they really have cornered this little multi-million dollar market quite well. My hat goes off to them both, but the rest of my clothes stay on.....until Martha comes on screen of course...
