Unless you are working under another policy I think it is a good idea to get your own coverage. I used to keep a policy through AOPA and it also acted as a renter’s policy. I can’t recall the numbers, but it was pretty good converge for a reasonable cost (I think I paid around $500 a year a few years back). It is only a value as a freelance instructor and does not cover you if you are working for a school that has its own coverage (at least that’s how it was when I was carrying a policy of my own).
