Default Looks like war, boys.

And not a moment too soon.

Take a peek boys. "Nut up" or start looking at Truckmasters!

Your LEC officers attended a special MEC meeting last week. This meeting was purely informational in nature. We received updates from our economic and financial analysis team and our bankruptcy counsel. Our negotiating committee briefed management's proposal for additional pilot concessions. Management offered no justification for their request nor had they done any costing to support their numbers. Management just simply gave us a proposal.

Your Council 44 officers believe management's proposal outlined in the latest Negotiator's Notepad is a clear overreach. No other stakeholder stepped up to the plate and participated at the level we did last year, and we mean no one! What is our reward for keeping Delta out of bankruptcy for the last year? Our reward is another DEMAND from our management team to again shoulder a disproportional share of the burden. Management has "cherry picked" the worst portions of various contracts and placed them in their proposal. So the same management team that came up with the business plan that was funded by our contributions and landed us in bankruptcy is now able to use the bankruptcy code as a weapon against us.

We recognize that we are in bankruptcy and that this process has historically not been favorable to labor. We have been in the lounges the last several days and your message to us has been clearly heard. Enough is enough!

We will respond to management's proposal in a manner that is in the best interest of the Delta pilots. We believe that this draconian overreach is an insult to those who have already sacrificed disproportionately relative to all other stakeholders. Management may be counting on pilot outrage over this proposal to subside in the days and weeks ahead and that eventually we will come to our senses and accept this as our fate. I believe such a notion is as ill fated as their business plan to avoid bankruptcy in the first place. They need to understand that unreasonable and unjustifiable assaults on our contract will not fly, even in bankruptcy.

Fraternally,

Art, Sam, Bill and Mork
