Re: career help...can;t make up my mind
I havent really looked into the college in MA, but I have heard from a couple of students from Embry Riddle and was told that if you don't have a ton of money then you would be wasting what money you have. One ATP rated pilot that worked for Kitty Hawk Cargo that is HQ in Dallas told me that airlines are just looking for ratings and a degree. By degree I mean any degree. Basketweaving fo instance. But the upside about attending aviation school or a school that has an aviation program is that it give you the opportunity to network. With that said I will spiel the school I attend. Indiana State University is a part 91 school that use two private contractors that compeate for ISU students (which keep costs down) and still offer instuction up through your MEI. You also have the opportunity to teach other ISU students after you earn your CFI. This alows you to build up to the magic 1500 hours need for ATP on another students tab. At the end of your 4th year you only owe around 80k instead of the 120k at other schools. ISU also has a great number of alumni that have gotten great jobs at many regional airlines. Hope this helped.
