Re: San Diego Mongomery Field
Plus One is also the most expensive club on the field, both for the annual membership and the hourly rates. Take a look at the Armed Forces Flying Club--economic conditions caused them to open up membership to anyone, and they charge tach time, not Hobbs.
I was a member of the club that starts with an S (the club where two of the 9/11 terrorists trained) and Consair Flyers. I won't recommend club "S" for maintenance reasons, but Consair's airplanes are maintained well ('cept for maybe 733UC, I'm told the owner puts off things longer than he should). 4625G is a great airplane, I put about 15 hrs on it after the owner of the '97 172 sold it off to another operation on the field.
There were a couple of hot CFIs operating out of Gibbs when I was down there, a blonde and a redhead. I'm sure they're on at some regional someplace by now.
When checkride time comes, you absolutely positively want to fly with Steve Amoia. Steve is an AA 737 capt and a "big picture" sort of DE that even MikeD would approve of. Don't even give flying with the other ones a thought.
