Kinda a thought provoker.... but here is one.

He is a pilot and an outdoors man... so

Go to an antique store, or pawn shop, and pick up an one of those older compasses. World War II era, Army surplus, field type are really neat little tools. Attach some type of card/message with something to the effect of "Whatever the travel, find your way home."

Not too expensive of a gift, but with the right message it can be a real keepsake.

Here is the type I am talking about (New based on the old designs) but this type.
