We had another appointment today, and panic is subsiding a little. Being off work has lowered Mom's blood pressure (plus, her ankles have reappeared), and we did a fetal non-stress test this morning which showed Baby is doing swell. So Doc (different Doc than Mon., and much less alarmist) thinks we're good just to keep waiting it out for now.
