How bout for starters...please bring a current sectional or WAC chart (if they are still making those). I know alot of VFR guys go blasting off with old charts or no charts b/c they have GPS and wander off into restricted areas and such.

I would say that ATC has low expectations for private pilots and weekend warriors to start with. So dont think that your Tom Cruise image is going to be damaged because you ask for help finding an airport or need clarification on an intstruction.
How bout instead of saying "Im lost I cant find the airport" try "How are we looking for Bumtown Regional?" A response like "Airports 10 oclock 12 miles", or "Turn 10 Degrees left for Bumtown" or something to those effects are common.

You talking IFR too?
