Split the time with someone else. If one of you is under the hood, the other can act as safety pilot and you both can log the hrs. 50 hrs in a sim is an eternity!. It will count towards the rating, but not towards total time. If you are going to pay dual for a sim, you might as well just split the time and do it as a safety pilot. I split time to build up hrs for my ASEL, and had a blast shooting just about every approach south of Fresno. Just my cent and a half worth! ( I would have 2, but I'm still a CFI,lol)
